Certificates and Laboratory Tests

GOTS – Global Organic Textile Standard

A certification that ensures the certified organic status of textiles, from the harvesting of the raw fibre through processing up to working conditions.

In this certification, the reduction of chemicals, energy and compliance with social criteria are also covered. There are two GOTS label grades: ‘organic’ (requiring a minimum of 95% organic fibres) and ‘made with organic materials’ (requiring at least 70% organic fibres and less than 10% synthetic fibers).

Both labels provide credible assurance to the end consumer.

The six stages of GOTS standards:

First stage: textile fiber processing

Second stage: spinning, where fibers are converted into yarns

Third stage: weaving or knitting, the stage at which yarn is converted into fabric

Fourth stage: sizing, pre-treatment, dyeing,

printing (including digital printing), finishing, laundry, etc

Fifth stage: manufacturing processes such as assembly, design, fabric marking, stitching, ironing, sorting, etc

Sixth stage: labeling the final product

FSC – Forest Stewardship Council

FSC certification ensures that products come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits.

The main aspects taken into consideration are: if the wood was legally extracted, if the correct forest management techniques are being applied, if there is no waste in production, and if the production follows environmental and labor laws.
